What is Baouw?

Trail running, with its varied and often demanding routes, requires specific physical and nutritional preparation. Unlike road running, trail running involves rugged terrain, steep gradients and changing weather conditions. To meet these challenges, the right nutrition is crucial. Trail energy products are designed to provide the energy needed to sustain prolonged and intense efforts.

The nutritional needs of trail running differ from those of other running disciplines due to the unique nature of this activity. Good trail nutrition helps to improve performance, prevent fatigue, maintain hydration and aid recovery. Energy products play a key role, providing a fast and sustainable source of carbohydrates, proteins, electrolytes and other essential nutrients.

We recommend alternating between energy gels, bars and compotes:

- Energy bars are best used at the start of a race, before chewing becomes difficult after prolonged effort. We recommend a bar every 45 minutes or so.

- Energy purées, which are easy to assimilate due to their texture, should be preferred throughout the route, particularly on uphill sections. We recommend a compote every 30 minutes or so.

- Energy gels are best used at the end of a race or during a very intense effort. We recommend a gel every 45 minutes or so.

It's also important to test these recipes in training first.
