Goal of our energy drink : to help you perform by avoiding glycemic spikes and digestive issues. A support on the ground, a boost to your effort !
Hydrate to perform, AND WITH SALTY!
During a long effort, your palate also has its limits. After a few hours of ultra or long outings, the accumulation of sweet drinks and gels often ends up being nauseating, even cutting your appetite and desire to eat.
This is where the salty broth changes the game. By offering a salty alternative to the traditional sweet drink, Baouw helps you break the taste monotony, rekindle the desire to drink and eat, and limit the famous sugar saturation that lurks after several hours of running. All this without sacrificing energy intake: this drink remains as effective as a classic isotonic drink!
A drink for effort tested by pros, validated on the ground
Created in the Baouw Pro Kitchen, our isotonic salted soup drink was developed by Benoît Nave, sports nutritionist and Yoann Conte, double-starred chef.
And above all: tested in real conditions by our athletes (trail, cycling, triathlon…) before being validated!
FAQ - everything you need to know about salty broth
Why choose a salty isotonic drink rather than a sweet one?During long efforts, the sweet taste often ends up being nauseating, which can cut the desire to drink and eat. A salty drink like broth provides a taste alternative that rekindles appetite and the pleasure of drinking, while maintaining a complete energy intake (37g of carbohydrates per serving).
Does the salty soup drink completely replace the classic isotonic drink? No, it rather comes in alternation. The idea is to alternate sweet and salty throughout the effort to avoid taste fatigue and maintain regular hydration and nutrition over time, especially in trail running, cycling, triathlon, or on long outings.
For which sports is this salty soup drink suitable? It is designed for all endurance efforts: ultra trail, trail, long-distance cycling, cyclosportive, triathlon, ironman, sport hiking… The longer the effort (beyond 2-3h), the more the benefits of the salty broth are felt.
What are the benefits of sodium during effort? Sodium is the electrolyte lost in the greatest quantity in sweat. The salty broth formula, rich in electrolytes (1,470mg including 990mg of sodium), helps to compensate for these losses, especially in high heat or during heavy sweating.
Does the salted soup drink provide equal energy to a sweet isotonic drink? Yes. The salty profile does not change the energy intake: the drink retains the same 37g of carbohydrates per serving, with a glucose/fructose ratio of 1:0.8 for optimized absorption and good digestive tolerance.
When and at what point in the race should you drink this salted soup drink? It is particularly useful in the second half of the event, when the fatigue of sweetness sets in, or right from the start on very long efforts where the alternation of flavors becomes important to maintain nutrition.
Is the salted soup drink also suitable in case of high heat? Yes, it is even one of the contexts where it is most relevant: sodium losses through sweating increase with heat, and a more generous salty intake helps to better compensate for them.
Is the salted soup drink isotonic? Yes, it maintains an isotonic formula, with a carbohydrate ratio of 1:0.8 designed to limit glycemic spikes and promote digestive comfort during exertion.
Can this salted soup drink be used outside of endurance sports? It is primarily designed for long efforts, but its hydrating and energizing formula can also be suitable for any prolonged physical activity requiring electrolyte intake, such as hiking or in high heat.
